Man, it's been a long time since I blogged! We have just been busy with school and work and so many other things known in their totality as "life". Here is a snapspot at what we've been up to since the holidays....
After nearly 4 1/2 years, Parker's front teeth finally started coming back in! Once they showed up (barely poking through in this picture), they came in pretty quickly. It has been fun getting used to seeing him with teeth again.
While on the subject of teeth, Parker went in for a cleaning and we found out that he has very poor enamel on his 6 year molars due to some kind of disruption that occurred when they were developing, likely before or right after birth. In short, that translated into him needing to get a crown....
....and a couple of fillings. He is such a trooper, even through all of this dental work that would have had me in knots. He is just my easy-going boy, and couldn't have been more excited about getting a silver tooth to show off to all of his friends.
This was also the first time that Parker was really excited about the Olympics, and we watched them nearly every night!Parker is doing really well in school, and according to his teacher is right where he needs to be and making progress all the time. Parker's teacher also just loves him, which is such a blessing. As a parent, you love it when other adults think that your kids are as special as you know them to be. We are very proud of our Parker! To top it off, he has really started to get interested in writing, particularly writing notes to Andrew and I. Here is an example of his sweetness in writing....
As for Sadie Lady, she keeps us on our toes with her quick wit and funny, fiesty nature. She loves to color, draw, and create.
She is also super cuddly, sweet, and complimentary....telling me every day, usually several times a day, that I am the "best mom EVER".
Sadie recently went on her first trip to the salon to get her hair cut. Her hair has taken nearly 5 years to get to this point....up until now she has only had one trim! She absolutely loved the experience.
Sadie also had her first trip to the dentist office. She did great, and had no cavities!
Sadie loves to dress herself and accessorize with anything and everything. She is super independent, and rarely asks for help, wanting to do everything for herself. Here is a Sadie original ensemble.
Waiting to pick up Parker at school....impossible to believe that she starts Kindergarten in the fall!
In February, we celebrated a low-key Valentine's Day. The kids chose chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast, their favorite.
Later, they opened cards they had received in the mail!
Andrew and I -- our 13th Valentine's Day together!
We went out to dinner as a family, and had a great evening together.
We've had snow a few times, which the kids always love!
Parker and Sadie are always asking Daddy to make things that they have seen or heard about, like this Viking hat, moustache, and cardboard swords.
Even when they asked for a cardboard car, Daddy came through!
They also went through a brief stage of wanting to have disco dance parties!
A favorite activity of theirs is sitting together on one recliner to watch a show.
These faces accompany me to school every morning, and every morning we jam out to the songs of their choosing. Love my babies!
We have also recently had company and completed some home improvement projects, so stay tuned for some new posts about that!
